Toto is one of the most popular bands around the world. In the beginning of 1981, Toto released their third album, Turn Back. It was an evolution from their previous sound. It was a huge success in Japan however, it did not chart well in the US, and their record label began to question whether they could survive as a group. They picked Joseph Williams who had been the guitarist on several of their live recordings.
The band toured in 1998 to promote the album, and to mark their 40th anniversary. They released a boxset Old Is New.
